  • Participants will line up on their assigned starting row in accordance with our official staging procedure.  40 minutesprior to each race, at Race Commander’s discretion, maycall up riders individually to pick/reserve starting positions.

    NO RACER OR RACER PARENTshould walk up to the line to reserve a spot until their name is called.

    First moto’s will be announced according to point standings and second moto’s will be announced according to first moto results.

    Both staging announcements will go back 5 placesand after the TOP 5, it will be first come first serve to all remaining riders in class.

    TOP 10 are ONLY called for Pro Class both moto’s.

    Classes that share one row will be called in alternating order.

    Bikes are not permitted on the starting line during the staging procedure.

    The rows will always have signage so that each participant can easily find which row they start on. No bike is permitted on the starting line until they have gone through Tech Inspection and are authorized.

    The rider’s meeting will be on the starting line before the start of each race. All-important track updates will be announced at the riders meeting. All participants are responsible for attending.

    The Race Commanderwill lift the green flag (7-10) seconds before the start of each race. When the green flag is dropped only the front wave (row) of riders will start their bikes and begin the race. This process will continue every minute until all the remaining waves are gone.

    Riders who accidentally or intentionally leave on a starting row ahead of their correct starting row will be penalized.

    Riders who accidentally leave on a starting row behind their correct starting row will not be disqualified but their results will not be adjusted for their time lost.

    Pee Wee Starting Procedure- Pee Wee Sr will have a standard dead engine start.  All other Pee Wee classes will be engine running

    The A250/AVet class line will be row number 2 on all odd number rounds, followed by the A200/A Open class line on row 3. Even number rounds will switch with the A200/A Open class being row number 2, followed by A250/AVet on row 3. This is the only rotating class starting order

  • Scoring will be done with the transponder method. Each rider will have a transponder under the visor of his or her helmet and a class specific sticker on the back of the helmet.

    Riders are required to slow down while going through the scoring lanes. It is the rider’s responsibility to know his or her number at all times. It is the racers responsibility to place their racing number clearly on the bikes number panels, left chin and back of helmet (unobstructed by goggle straps).

    It is highly recommended to have the correct number on your bike, and to cover any unused numbers.

     Scoring checkpoints are “no passing zones”.  Riders may pass if a rider crashes in front of them or if a lapped rider gives the lead rider space to do so.

     The scoring area entrance will be marked with two orange cones to indicate the NO PASSING ZONE!

     Riders will be penalized 45 seconds if they make a pass on a competitor in the scoring lane

  • Results are determined from the participants combined score of both moto results. They are then added together and the rider with the lower total wins. For example, a rider who wins both moto’s 1 + 1 = has a total of 2.

    If (2) riders have a total score that ties.  The rider who places lower in the second moto will win the tiebreaker and receive the lower overall position.

    Individual class results will be posted on paper in the general vicinity of the registration area. Riders have (30 minutes) to file a protest to the Registration Trailer after the results have been posted.

  • In the result of a tie in championship points, the rider with more overall wins from the championship season will take the win.  If the riders also tie in the number of wins, the rider with more second place finishes will win the tiebreaker. This pattern will continue until the tie is broken. If the riders also tie in overall wins and race finishes, he or she that scores more points in the final round will win the tiebreaker.

Race results that have a DNF, DNS overall finish or zero advancement points will not be used for calculating ORPV. Riders earn performance points based on their finishes at each meet according to the following:

      • Rider Advancement Points:

        • Finish Position:(Points 3-9 Participants), [Points 10-19 Participants], {Points 20+ Participants}

          • 1: (16), [20], {25}

          • 2: (14), [18], {23}

          • 3: (12), [16], {22}

          • 4: (10), [14], {20}

          • 5: (8), [13], {18}

          • 6: (6), [12], {16}

          • 7: (4), [11], {14}

          • 8: (2), [10], {13}

          • 9: (1), [9], {12}

          • 10: [8], {11}

          • 11: [7], {10}

          • 12: [6], {9}

          • 13: [5], {8}

          • 14: [4], {7}

          • 15: [3], {6}

          • 16: [2], {5}

          • 17: [1], {4}

          • 18: [1], {3}

          • 19: [1], {1}

          • 20: {1}

          • 21: {1}

          • 22: {1}

          • 23: {1}

          • 24: {1}

          • 25: {1}

        • *Example: A rider has 18 B classification entries. The rider earns 256points combined in 15 of those entries and no points in the otherthree. To calculate the ORPV the total points earned (256) are dividedby the total number of classification entries in which points wereearned (15). 256 divided by 15 = ORPV of 17.06. The rider’s ORPVof 17.06 exceeds the 15-point cutoff, and they are advanced to the Aclassification.

    • B Classification Advancement

      • All B riders carrying an ORPV of 15 or higher at year-end will be advanced to the A classification.

      • Riders between the ages of 12 and 15 on Nov. 30th riding the B classification shall not be forced into the A classification regardless of how many B races or advancement points the rider has. Riders in this age group may advance based on their own ability/competence.

      • No rider, youth or amateur, can be forced to compete in the A class until Jan. 1 following their 16th birthday. A rider’s age for advancement will be determined as of Nov. 30 of the current year. Riders under 16 may advance on their own ability/competence.

    • C Classification Advancement

      • All C riders carrying an ORPV of 15 or higher at year- end will be advanced to the B classification.

      • The following criteria are to be used when determining a rider’s eligibility for the C classification:

        • No rider is to be classified as a C rider if that rider had an ORPV of 15 or higher the previous year in the C classification.

        • No rider is to be classified as a C rider if that rider has ever been classified as an A rider.

        • No rider is to be classified as a C rider if that rider is receiving or has ever received any type of OEM factory support in any classification (excluding OEM contingency and trackside support).

    • Appealing Advancement/Classification

      • Riders who wish to contest classification achieved during the current year through the National Advancement System may appeal once. The deadline for appeals related to year-end advancement is March 1.

      • There will be a board to hear appeals and there is no second appeal to this classification process.

      • Advancement appeals for all classes will be determined by the AMA appeal process.

      • Classification appeals for all classes will be determined by the AMA appeal process.

      • A $50 fee must accompany all advancement appeals. Appeals must be made online via the AMA appeals form found on the AMA website: https://americanmotorcyclist.com/racer-advancement-appeal/

      • The AMA Appeal Board reserves the authority to advance a rider’s classification that has no RPV but has demonstrated an advanced riding ability that is supported by documented race results, at any time.

      • Riders who wish to contest placement, classification or age for youth class eligibility may appeal once per calendar year to the AMA.

      • Riders returned to a lower class are only those who are considered completely non-competitive in the class they are leaving and won't dominate the class in which they are returning.

      • Riders may return to a lower class only once.

      • Riders returning to competition after several years must request to be reverted as explained above and can't move back a class automatically or without AMA and district permission. Failure to comply with this requirement will result in suspension or other disciplinary action.

      • The AMA Appeal Board reserves the authority to re- evaluate and overturn an advancement/classification appeal decision based upon new information and/or documented race results showing advanced riding ability within six months of the Appeal Board’s decision.

      • Recognized District Organizations (RDO) and Competition Partner Organizations (CPO) may request review of a rider’s classification. A recommendation for advancement and/or reclassification along with documentation to support the review must accompany the request.

  • If a class is full (60 riders depending on location of GP) and a rider who did NOT sign up in time & wishes to potentially race that class, he/she may show up to the registration trailer 10 minutes before the set moto start time.

    If there are any riders that pre-registered and have not checked in at the registration trailer by this time, riders who are geared up and ready to go may take their spots.

    Riders will still be required to fill out appropriate sign-up paperwork and pay the class race fee of $55.00 at that time.

    It is first come first serve. Parents and other riders are not allowed to save spots. The riders who pre-registered and did not check in with sign up and lost their spots will not be given a refund.

    The number of open spots varies depending on the race and it is not guaranteed that there will be any open spots.

    NEW FOR 2025: All J Day Racers must have an AMA Membership. Yearly and Daily Options are available Here.

    Now that you have paid your gate fee and your “One Time” Membership/Transponder fees, the GP race fee is $55 per class. Pee Wee Classes are $40.

  • It is the rider’s responsibility to enter the correct class; riders found to be riding outside of their correct AMA classification will be penalized up to disqualification.

    If you have raced in another organization, it is important to race in a class of the same skill level at the J Day GP events.  For example, if you race hare scrambles at the Amateur level, you must race J Day events in the appropriate Amateur class. A list of all of the classes and their descriptions can be found in our GP Rulebook.

  • Yes, as long as the classes are in the same skill level.  For example, a rider may not race C 250 and also B 250. An example would be a 43 year old rider on a 450 racing A senior and A Open.  He qualifies for both classes and both of the classes happen to be in different heats. Please note, some people will not have this opportunity because of the class and schedule structure.

    You do not need two memberships to race two classes.  If you are purchasing a membership online and want to add a second class, use the Promo Code “Second” to avoid paying an additional $50.

    Please keep in mind if you race two classes in different heats, you will need a particular number that is available in both heats.

  • Yearly Memberships can be purchased at the track on race day with cash or check only or online by clicking this link >Become a Member<  We work through paypal and memberships can be purchased with a credit card, debit card or Paypal account.  On race weekends, our Online Membership system closes Friday nights at 8 PM unless there is ALSO a Saturday GP.  In that case online registration on Thursday Nights at 8 PM.

    Day memberships can only be purchased at the track on race day with cash or check only.

    One Membership is good for ALL J Day Off Road Series and events

  • It is possible that multiple riders have the same racing number provided that they are not in the same racing heat.  If riders are in the same heat, they may not use the same number and we do NOT add single letters (X) (Y) (V) to numbers.

  • We do not have a sound test at our events but do reserve the right to turn away abnormally loud bikes.

  • We process memberships on Mondays and Fridays.  When your membership is processed you will receive a confirmation email with the first available number you requested.  Occasionally the automatic confirmation email gets redirected into your emails SPAM inbox.

  • There are two ways to register for a J Day GP.

    • The first and best way is to register is online.  If you are already a J Day Off Road Member, you can sign up online >Pre-Register<

    Online event registration opens the Sunday Night prior to the event at 8 PM EST.  It Closes the Friday night prior to the event at 8 PM EST unless there is ALSO a Saturday GP.  In that case online registration on Thursday Nights at 8 PM.

    We recommend signing up online because classes can fill up quickly.

    Once you are Pre Registered online you will then need to head to the Pre-Registration line at our registration trailer on race day.  You will need your helmet so please bring it. This line is much quicker than the post registration line and is only necessary for a signature, Transponder Inspection and a Minor Release Form if you are under 18 years of age.

    • The second way to register for a J Day Event is at the event on race day.  Our Registration trailer opens at 6 AM on race day and does not close all day.  Your helmet will be needed so please bring it to the registration trailer. We accept cash or check.

  • Absolutely.  Everything can be done at the J Day Off Road Registration Trailer with cash or check only.  The downfall is that popular classes can and often fill up. We hate to turn people away after traveling to an event, so we always recommend registering online when possible.

  • Yes you are more than welcome to use that transponder with us.  Please bring your helmet and transponder to the registration trailer when you sign up so that we can make sure it properly works with our system.

  • Our gates open on race day at 6 AM.  We recommend arriving 2 hours prior to your first race.  We can not guarantee anything, but this should be enough time to sign in at the front gate, park your vehicle, and register for the race.

  • Tech Inspection is mandatory.  The Tech Inspection Tent is located at the start of each race and you will be required to ride through tech inspection prior to your start.  Tech Inspection opens 40 minutes prior to each heat and they will verify that your transponder is working, numbers are correctly placed, and that you have the proper safety equipment.

  • Camping is allowed at all J Day Off Road Events.  Several tracks charge an additional $10 per car load.  Camp fires rules are determined by the particular track/facility.  The times that gates open and close the day before the event is also decided by the track/facility.  These times will always be advertised on the official race flier, which can be found on our website the week before the event.

  • While most facilities allow small camp fires, this fluctuates depending on the season.  Please always ask the facility upon entering the property. Several facilities only allow “above ground barrel fires” If fires are not allowed at a particular event we will normally advertise this on the official race flier the week before the event.  That flier can be found on our website.

  • Dogs on leashes are allowed at all J Day Off Road events.

  • Unfortunately, we do not have practice at J Day Off Road Events.  You can however walk the track before 8 AM on race day or walk the track the day before the event after gates open.

  • We strongly suggest that you get the appropriate numbers and backgrounds on your bike, but we do NOT require it.  Along with our MotoTally Scoring System, we also have several officials keeping track manually. Proper numbers and backgrounds are extremely helpful for this reason.  If you do not have the appropriate numbers on your bike, we will supply you with temporary numbers at the Registration Trailer when you sign up.

    View our number/background guide HERE.

  • You can get got Vector and PNG files HERE.

  • We recommend that you cover preexisting numbers if the numbers are different from your J Day numbers.  However, if you have temporary stickers on your helmet from another organization, it is mandatory that those are covered or removed so that our scoring crew does not confuse them.

  • Each adult/youth racer gets two (30) Minute Motos per day. Pee Wee racers get 1 (40) minute race at 8 AM.

    The full schedule is listed on each Event page.

  • Building a J Day GP Track is a lengthy process and we try to post the video when the majority of the trail work is complete.  We aim to upload the track preview videos as soon as possible, but usually we post them on our YouTube Page the Thursday or Friday before a Sunday event.  Once in a while we will post the video as late as Saturday the day before. We recommend subscribing to our YouTube Channel: JDayOffroadRacing for automatic updates when the video is public.

  • Yes you may self promote at any time.  Please keep in mind that once you self promote, you may not change your mind and go back down so please make sure you are ready and willing to commit for the season.

  • A rider may petition to self demote if he or she feel they are no longer capable of racing at their former skill level due to extensive time off from racing, long term injury etc.  Riders may not demote mid race season. Requests must be emailed to J Day Off Road.

  • Once you have been promoted and have raced another AMA series in that new class, you must also bump up at the J Day GP Events.  This includes the J Day Sprint Enduro and Hare Scramble Events.

    It is the rider’s responsibility to enter the correct class; riders found to be riding outside of their correct AMA classification will be penalized up to disqualification.

  • Our Pee Wee Classes start at 4 years old.  We have classes from 4 and up! Please check our rule book to decide what class you fit best Click link below
