Mohawk GP Rd. 15 - Race Report

What a beautiful weekend to spend up in the Berkshires! Jday Offroad was in Lanesborough Massachusetts this weekend with bright skies and t-shirt weather! Round 6 of the 7-round E-bike / Pitbike / Stacyc series was held on Saturday. The E-bike Mod and Stock class started at noon with Andrew Acton grabbing the holeshot. Both classes went at the same time for their 25-minute moto. Andrew Acton clenches the win with Dylan Conte and Quinn Moloney rounding out the Stock E-Bike Podium. Elias Whitney took the overall in the E-Bike Modded class. 1 pm Pitbikes were off, Andrew Acton grabbed the Pit Bike Stock holeshot and Cory Stolarski grabbed the Pit Bike Modded class holeshot. To round out both podiums after their 25-minute moto, Cory Stolarski in 1st, Nathan Michalenko in 2nd, and Nathan Darrow in 3rd for the Modded class. In the stock class Andrew Acton took 1st, Joshua Cavar in 2nd, and Carson Cayer in 3rd. Don’t forget to bring your friends for the last round of E-Bike and Pitbike races, on November 2nd at Southwick for bigger payouts and the last race of the year! 3 pm Stacyc races were off Santi Cudal took off with the 12E Stacyc holeshot leading the race until the very end with intense battles with Colton Reed. Santi Cudal finished first, Colton Reed in second, and Austin Lentine in 3rd. 16E was off next with a packed start, Bryan Supp Ramos was able to hold the lead to the checkered flag for the overall, Nathan DaSilva in 2nd, and Bradley Drouin in 3rd. The Open Stacyc class was won by Benjamin Kelly, Alex Verdille in 2nd, and Reece Campbell in 3rd. The youngest kids in the Strider class complete one lap of the course with Yuri Costa taking the win. Join us for the last Stacyc races of the year at Southwick on November 2nd. 

Sunday morning we all woke up to frosted bikes, windows, and many whose propane ran out at 3 am. The grass was white like snow for the PeeWee race at 8 am. Gladly the day ended up warming up into t-shirt weather by 10 am which is what it’s like living in New England! Sawyer Langenback had a great start with the Fox Racing holeshot. In the PeeWee Senior class. Sawyer could hold that first-place lead to the finish with Jack Ford and Destry Tucker in close quarters all moto. Sawyer Langenback 1st, Jack Ford 2nd, and Destry Tucker back on the podium in 3rd to round out the podium. Pee Wee Trailrider holeshot went to Ethan Clark, yet David Alipio was able to get into the lead quickly and win the moto leading him to secure all points needed to win the Pee Wee Trailrider Championship…Congrats! Pee Wee Girls was won by Kaelyn Levesque, Pee Wee Electric was won by Brooks Mankowsky, Pee Wee Bantam was won by Rockson Melise, and Pee Wee Squirt was won by Bryan Supp Ramos. 

Supermini Moto was up next for the day, Kamden Krause had a great inside line to sneak around and grab the holeshot for Moto 1, and Evan Worthington quickly jumped into first finishing lap 1 with the lead and holding that lead until lap 5 where Landon Nowak led and last lap Grant Meacham took first moto 1. Moto 2 Kamden and Evan were close the entire moto trading first and second place spots while Kamden was able to take the Moto 2 win. Evan Worthington took 1st Overall in Supermini while Grant Meacham in 2nd and Kamden Krause in 3rd. Tucker Aldrich won Mini A and Mini B was won by Sebastian Tucker who was able to wrap

up the Mini B championship early…Congrats! The Girls class was won by Mallory Pickard who also got the Girls Overall Award. Mallory Pickard and Madison Rougeau battled first and second motos keeping each other in sight making for some great racing. C250 was won by Noah Willis who led 3 laps Moto 1 and all of Moto 2. C200 was won by Brayden Edmonds winning both motos and C Open was won by Pierre Ribeiro. Ruby Fustini was able to clinch 2nd place at Mohawk leading her to win the Women’s Pro Championship 3 years in a row! Addison Harris won the Women’s Pro Overall for the day while Mallory Pickard won the Women’s Amature Overall. Leo Candidus took the win in the super Senior class, and John Malloy won the Masters class once again! C Veteran was won by Tyler Wojtkowski while Joe Hynes won C Senior. 

Pro A/125 had a great line up of Yamahas on the line this weekend having 10 out of 16 racing blue bikes. Van Gosselin started Moto 1 off strong with the Fox Racing holeshot, by the second corner Justin Cokinos was able to make the pass for first. Cokinos was able to hold the first place position until lap two where Brandon Gregoire took the lead finishing in first Moto 1. Van Gosselin and Simon Johnson had some great back-and-forth passes during the first moto. Moto 2 Brandon was able to start the Moto grabbing the Fox Racing Holeshot and holding that lead until the checkered flag finishing 19 seconds ahead of Simon Johnson. Brayden Nolette was able to work his way from 6th to 3rd in just 6 laps. Pro /A 125 was yet again another great race, Brandon Gregoire finished 1st Overall, Simon Johnson took 2nd Overall and Brayden Nolette took 3rd Overall. Gregoire is currently 18 points ahead going into the last round of the Jday Offroad GP Series making this last race decide who the PRO / A125 winner will be. 

The B 250 Overall Winner went to Jacob Mitchell who also took home the B Overall Award this past weekend. Jonathan Alipio wins the day in the B 200 class leading all 10 laps in both motos. Austin Dipieto won the overall in the B Open class battling back and forth with Jackson Miner. B Vet winner at Mohawk was Ben Kowalski. In the B Senior class, Marlon Ribeiro took home the win for the day. A250 was won by Oliver Cortis who also clinched the A Overall award at the RedBull Podiums. A200 Winner was Jake Desmarais while a stacked A Vet class was won by Brett Grimes. A Senior winner Andy Mathieu took the Moto 1-holeshot and finished his 2nd moto over 2 minutes ahead of second place. The Non-Championship Sportsman class was won by Robert Langenback and the Vintage bike class was won by Ryan Bliven up against 8 other vintage bikes. 

Pro AA was a hit this past weekend with 16 Pro riders lined up. Ben Kelley came back to Jday for the last time of the season putting on a great race. Moto 1 Justin Cokinos shot off the line with intense power grabbing the Fox Racing holeshot while rubbing wheels with Brandon Gregoire. Gregoire shortly into lap 1 was able to take the lead away from Cokinos. Justin was able to hold onto the second place position until lap 3 where Ben Kelley made the jump from third to second. Moto 1 Brandon Gregoire finished first 3 seconds ahead of Ben Kelley in 2nd and Justin Cokinos in 3rd. Moto 2 Brandon Gregoire had a great lead with the holeshot up into the woods it gave him a great position all race. At the end of lap one Gregoire and Kelley were 24 seconds apart. Simon Johnsons and Justin Cokinos went back and forth the whole moto trading positions. Kelley made his way from 5th to second finishing his day with Second Overall. Brandon Gregoire goes 1-1-1-1 for Mohawk GP with Ben Kelley and Justin Cokinos joining him on the podium. Gregoire currently sits 47 points ahead of Simon Johnson in the 2024 points standings. The last race of the year is Southwick MX, on November 2&3 2024.
