CANNING UNSTOPPABLE AT CROW HILL

Factory Connection / FXR / MotorBikes Plus pilot Chris Canning lead every lap of the PRO Class at Round 13 of the FOX Racing J DAY Off Road Championship in Templeton Massachusetts and left with an 8 point deficit in the title chase that he cut in half from Round 12. In a season that has seen 6 different overall winners in the PRO Class, the most ever in my memory, Canning has won five rounds besting his three other main contenders for the crown. The fight for the title got even tighter with 12 points separating the top four riders and reigning Champ Simon Johnson on his Plaistow Power Sports / Moose / Factory Connection Yamaha leading the way. Canning sits 8 back in second, Brandon Gregoire on the FXR / FACTORY CONNECTION / LBR Racing Yamaha is 3rd in the points tally just 10 points back and Gavin Simon on the Edelmans Husqvarna sits in fourth 12 points behind fellow Vermonster Johnson. With only two rounds to go it will go down to the finale in Southwick on October 29th. Joining Canning on the podium today was Brandon Gregoire in second and Simon Johnson in third. Rounding out the top five were Brayden Nolette on the V3 Kawasaki and Cody Williams on the Bullit Racing / FOX / Factory Connection / MBP KTM. Gavin Simon came home 6th overall while Taylor Beckwith was 7th. Robby Marshall rolled off the couch and took the new Stark Varg electric motorcycle to 8th overall and even ran second to Canning for two laps in the second go round and Yamaha pilots Anthony Federico and Nick Kordana rounded out the top ten today.

……And now for the rest of the story

The FOX Green Flag dropped on the Kenda Pee Wee Challenge at 8 o’clock and the young riders on small wheeled bikes embarked on the adventure of a lifetime. Hills, spills and thrills were all a part of the 40 minute moto but most importantly these young guns couldn’t have done it without the help of the great J DAY fans who dug them out of the endless mud pits throughout the track. The race for the win was once again some of the best racing of the day and the battle for the win was decided on the last lap of 6 between four riders and Destry Tucker stood on the top step of the Overall Pee Wee podium for the very first time as he took his Gas Gas to victory. Second on the day was Tucker Aldrich and Jaikan Johnson filled out the podium. Crue Hopkins scored the win in the Bantam class, Squirt class went to Bryan Ramos, Hunter Aubin took the win in the Trail Rider class, David Alipio silently took the Electric class win and Sophia Teixeira was back in winning form in the Girls class.

Ryan Amacio took the overall in Super Mini, DJ Leblanc was the Mini A winner, Trevor Harris picked up the win in Mini B, Bret Gurgulinski took the Mini C class and Addie Harris grabbed the win in the Girls class.

C Class Overall winner was Porter Breton followed by Cody Vaillancourt and Joey Nadworny with all three competing in the 250 class as well.

Womens PRO Class was won by reigning champion and current points leader Ruby Fustini, Addie Harris took top honors in the Womens Amateur class and gave Ruby a run for the Overall win again. Nate Martel was the Super Senior again, while Tim Thomson beat Larry Burke for the Masters class win. C Vet  top dog was Victor Medeiros and Wederson Maximo grabbed the C Senior win.

PRO 125 class was the domain of Chris Canning as he lead every lap except the first of the second moto to hammer out the win. Brandon Gregoire was second overall and Van Gosselin rounded out the podium.

B 250 class was won by Shane Czelazewicz, Open B class winner was Zack Girard and a Happy Birthday it was for the NH rider. Kaden Houle picked up the win in the B 200 Class on his KTM.

Will Hopkins cruised the Plaistow Power Sports / Answer Racing Yamaha to the double moto win the Senior A class while Jiggs Fustini made it a race and won the Junior B class on his Trail Jesters KTM. B Vet winner was Brian Hopkins and Emerson Cayer crushed the Senior class.

Clint Angwin formerly known as the Kawboy traded his fluorescent green spurs in and turned into the Husky Boy when he piloted the Moto Tassinari V Force equipped Three Hundo to the Vet A class win which was only his second this season and first since May.

Van Gosselin cruised to the A Class Overall win by scoring the 250 class win on his Battery Park / Ronnies of Bennington KTM while Corbin Owens bested Grady Hall for the Open win and Jacob Pacheco took the 200 class win aboard the Dunkin Donuts KTM.

Intense racing and a battle for the PRO Championship down to the last two races between Four worthy opponents. J DAY Racing at its finest to be sure. This was my last race announcing at Crow Hill where I have served in the Crow’s Nest for many years and I want to thank the Marshall Family for all their hard work to make this beautiful facility and the fun times we have shared in those many years.

Until next time this is JJ saying “ See you at the Next J DAY “
