Rd 5 River Rush Report

J Day River Rush GP 2012

Round five of the J Day GP series headed to Huntington, MA for the River Rush GP. The track featured a variety of elevation changes in the woods and a perfectly prepared grass track, which was highlighted by a high-speed step up jump. With excellent racing action and countless spectator viewing areas the River Rush GP was another topnotch event that will be remembered for years to come.
Moto one started with Josh Cennamo taking the early lead and Jon Girroir following close behind. Girroir eventually took over the lead on the tail end of the first lap and pulled away from the field, finishing 45 second ahead of second. On the second lap, Josh crashed finding himself in fourth place where he would eventually finish. Pro Motocrosser Christopher Pugrab made his J Day racing debut and put on a hard charge to catch the leader. Chris came up a little short and settled for a comfortable second place. Third place went to Jared Boothroyd who got caught up with Chase Simone in a second turn pile up. Jared worked his way back from last in the class to third by riding very aggressively and smart. Fourth and fifth place went to Josh Cennamo and Kyle Hangos.

Moto two saw Josh Cennamo grab the STS Motorsports holeshot award and leading the first lap with the rest of the class in tow. Josh rode very strong but ended up in third place. Jon Girroir crashed on the first turn but despite the fall made his way up to third place by the end of the first lap and was in the lead by the second lap. From there Jon would put one minute between himself and second place. On the second to last lap, Jon took a nasty crash in the extreme section and his bike ended up on top of him. Jon quickly got back on his bike and maintained his lead. Jared Boothroyd was running second for the entire moto until the last lap when he crashed and was not able to finish the race. Second place would be taken over by Christopher Pugrab who worked very hard to get through the pack to secure his position. Third place went to Josh Cennamo who finished only seconds behind Christopher. Fourth and fifth went to Shane Kelleher and Chase Simone.
