MSR Rd2 Barnes Way Report
The Barnes way property in Chepachet Rhode Island, typically has a reputation for being one of the roughest, most technical tracks in New England. On May 6, 2012 that reputation was completely shattered as 350 J Day Racers participated on a fast flowing GP track.
Once again over 1000 J Day fans filled the woods to watch the fierce racing battles and the notorious J Day action.
In Moto 1, Josh Cennamo pulled a convincing Holeshot with Jake Korn, and Jake Abbot close behind.
Here is a small video clip we found of the J Day River Jump, right off the start of the first Pro Moto. Thanks to Jimmy Decotis for capturing that classic video clip!
As the race went on it was Jake Korn who pulled a commanding lead over the young gun Johnny Girroir.
Josh Cennamo dropped back to 3rd and fought off a hard charging Jared Boothroyd. Jake Abbot fought back from a high speed crash, but with just 2 corners remaining he completely submerged his Yamaha in the mud, surrendering the fourth place position to Jared, and eventually finishing 5th place. In the end, the top five in the first Moto was Jake Korn, Johnny Girroir, Josh Cennamo, Jared Boothroyd and Jake Abbot.

In Moto 2 Johnny Girroir drastically pulled the STS Motorsports Holeshot. Johnny was unstoppable in the second moto and had a commanding lead by the end of the first lap.
Jake Korn was on a mission after a poor start, and battled through the pack. He made quick work of the riders in front of him, but was only able to make it back up to 2nd place. Jacob Morrison put in another impressive ride on his KTM 300 to finish a solid 3rd place. Jake Abbot finished 4th and Josh Cennamo held on to a strong 5th place despite some serious bar banging battles with a handful of riders.
The J Day GP Series continues in two weeks at the Crow Hill MX Facility.
